ABOUT GOD

God is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22 | Psalm 90:2 | Matthew 28:19 | 1 Peter 1:2

ABOUT MAN

Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be like him in character. He is the supreme object of God’s creation. Although man has tremendous potential for good, he is marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” This attitude separates man from God.

Genesis 1:27 | Psalm 8:3-6 | Isaiah 53:6 | Romans 3:23

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. On earth, Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for mankind and thus, atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory.

Matthew 1:22, 23 | Isaiah 9:6 | John 1:1-5, 14:10-30 | Hebrews 4:14, 15 | 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4 | Romans 1:3, 4 | Acts 1:9-11 | 1 Timothy 6:14, 15 | Titus 2:13

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.

2 Corinthians 3:17 | John 16:7-13, 14:16, 17 | Acts 1:8 | 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16 | Ephesians 1:13 | Galatians 5:25 | Ephesians 5:1

ABOUT THE BIBLE (SCRIPTURE)

The Bible is God’s word to all men. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.

2 Timothy 3:16 | 2 Peter 1:20, 21 | 2 Timothy 1:13 | Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6 | Proverbs 30:5

ABOUT ETERNITY

Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with him is eternal life. Heaven and hell are places of eternal existence.

John 3:16 | 1 John 2:25 | 1 John 5:11-13 | Romans 6:23 | Revelation 20:15 | Matthew 25:31-46

ABOUT THE VIRGIN BIRTH

Jesus Christ was conceived by God the Father, through the Holy Spirit (the third person of the Trinity) in the virgin Mary's womb; therefore, He is the Son of God.

Matthew 1:18, 25 | Luke 1:35 | Isaiah 7:14 | Matthew 1:18, 23-25 | Luke 1:27-35

ABOUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS

The Blood that Jesus Christ shed on the Cross of Calvary was sinless and is 100% sufficient to cleanse mankind of all sin. Jesus allowed Himself to be punished for both our sinfulness and our sins, enabling all those who believe to be free from the penalty of sin, which is death.

1 John 1:7 | Revelation 1:5 | Revelation 5:9 | Colossians 1:20 | Romans 3:10-12, 23 | Romans 5:9 | John 1:29

ABOUT THE RESURRECTION

Jesus Christ was physically resurrected from the dead in a glorified body three days after His death on the cross. In addition, both the saved and the lost will be resurrected; they that are saved to the resurrection of life and they that are lost to the resurrection of eternal damnation.

Luke 24:16, 36, 39 | John 2:19-21 | John 20:26-28 | John 21:4 | Acts 24:15 | 1 Corinthians 15:42, 44 | Philippians 1:21-23 | Philippians 3:21

ABOUT THE SECOND COMING

Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return to earth for the second time to establish His Kingdom. This will occur at a date undisclosed by the Scriptures.

Matthew 24:30 | Matthew 26:63-64 | Acts 1:9-11 | 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 | 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 | Revelation 1:7

ABOUT REDEMPTION

Man was created good and upright, but by voluntary transgression he fell; his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Genesis 1:26-31 | Genesis 3:1-7 | Romans 5:12-21

ABOUT SALVATION

Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works – only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Romans 6:23 | Ephesians 2:8, 9 | John 14:6, 1:12 | Titus 3:5 | Galatians 3:26 | Romans 5:1

ABOUT JUSTIFICATION

Justification is the act of God not only forgiving the believer’s sins but imputing to him the righteousness of Christ. Justification only comes through faith. Justification is not earned through our own works; rather, we are covered by the righteousness of Jesus Christ. The Christian, being declared righteous, is thus freed from the guilt of sin.

Romans 5:1 | Galatians 3:24 | Ephesians 2:8 | Titus 3:5

ABOUT REPENTANCE

Repentance is the commitment to turn away from sin in every area of our lives and to follow Christ, which allows us to receive His redemption and to be regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Thus, through repentance we receive forgiveness of sins and appropriate salvation.

Acts 2:21 | Acts 3:19 | 1 John 1:9

ABOUT REGENERATION

For anyone to know God, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

John 6:44, 65

ABOUT SANCTIFICATION

Sanctification is the ongoing process of yielding to God's Word and His Spirit in order to complete the development of Christ's character in us. It is through the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God that the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

1 Thessalonians 4:3 | 1 Thessalonians 5:23 | 2 Corinthians 3:18 | 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 | 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 | Romans 8:29 | Romans 12:1-2 | Hebrews 2:11

ABOUT ETERNAL SECURITY

Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian.

John 10:29 | 2 Timothy 1:12 | Hebrews 7:25; 10:10, 14 | 1 Peter 1:3-5

ABOUT THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is manifested through a variety of spiritual gifts to build and sanctify the church, demonstrate the validity of the resurrection, and confirm the power of the Gospel. The Bible lists of these gifts are not necessarily exhaustive, and the gifts may occur in various combinations. All believers are commanded to earnestly desire the manifestation of the gifts in their lives. These gifts always operate in harmony with the Scriptures and should never be used in violation of Biblical parameters.

Hebrews 2:4 | Romans 1:11 | Romans 12:4-8 | Ephesians 4:16 | 2 Timothy 1:5-16 | 2 Timothy 4:14 | 1 Corinthians 12:1-31 | 1 Corinthians 14:1-40 | 1 Peter 4:10

ABOUT THE CHURCH

The church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of Jesus' great commission. Every person who is born of the Spirit is an integral part of the church as a member of the body of believers. There is a spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 1:22 | Ephesians 2:19-22 | Hebrews 12:23 | John 17:11, 20-23

ABOUT BAPTISM

Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is your public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Baptism does not save you, but shows the world that you have already been saved. And while baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command and demonstrates your love and obedience to Christ.

Colossians 2:12 | Acts 2:41 | Ephesians 2:8-9 | Matthew 28:19-20

ABOUT COMMUNION (THE LORD’S SUPPER)

Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, is an ordinance given to all believers by Jesus Christ to remember his sacrifice for us and to symbolize the new covenant. The elements of bread and wine or juice are symbols of Christ’s broken body and shed blood. Communion is not a means of salvation. Rather, it is a testament of a believer’s faith in the atoning work of the cross.

Matthew 26:26-30 | Mark 14:22-26 | Luke 22:19,20 | 1 Corinthians 11:23-29
